I’m not a book reviewer by any means. I never have been any good at reviewing books in the proper way, but I like to document what I am reading and Goodreads doesn’t always do it for me.
I have to have somewhere, like here, to say that these are two of my favorite books.
I read The Passage YEARS ago when it first came out in 2010, and started reading The Twelve, the second book in the trilogy, when it came out a few years later, but unfortunately I stopped because it had been so long since I’d read the first book, I forgot what was going on.
That’s why authors should release books in a series faster than two or three years apart.
Anyway, since the books are now being made into a TV series, I just re-read The Passage and then immediately followed up with The Twelve, and can easily say these are two of the best books I’ve ever read.
The story itself is incredible, but the writing in these books is also superb - maybe this is why it took Justin Cronin years between publishing books, he had to write them well, and he did.
I have just bought the third and final book in the trilogy, and I am excited to get started on it.
I can already tell that I am going to be sad to leave this world that Cronin created, it’s nothing like ours, as our world isn’t filled with viral vampires, but our world is close to breaking down in the way that it did in these books, and I can see how in the breakdown we would all live, and it’s horrifying.
I do love horrifying when it comes to books and movies.
On to the last book, and the end of a journey of thousands of beautiful pages.
